Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange has appointed five new trustees to its board.
The new trustees – Alexandra Cosma, Jane Faram, Ashish Ghadiali, Olga Owczarek, and Julia Twomlow – bring a wealth of expertise across diverse fields, which will help shape the gallery’s future and enhance its reputation as a leading contemporary art venue in Cornwall.
James Green, director of Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Alexandra, Jane, Ashish, Olga, and Julia to the board at this pivotal moment for the gallery. Each of them brings unique skills and perspectives that will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and engage our communities.”
In addition, three applicants – Amy Green, Sam Trenerry, and Giles Jackson – will join as observers in June 2025. This opportunity will allow them to contribute to the board’s work before being formally proposed for appointment at the AGM in November 2025.
At this year’s AGM, the gallery also bid a fond farewell to Bethia Naughton-Rumbo, Dida Tait, Ginny Button, and Myfanwy Barrett, who stepped down after serving two three-year terms.
Miranda Bird, chair of the board of trustees, expressed her gratitude, saying: “I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Bethia, Dida, Ginny, and Myfanwy for their incredible service over the years. Our departing trustees leave behind a legacy of passion, commitment, and strategic leadership. Their work has helped strengthen the gallery’s role as a vital space for contemporary art and community engagement.”
