A Cornish cyber security specialist has expanded its team at Tremough Innovation Centre and launched a new 24/7 service.

Cool Waters Cyber has appointed three new team members as it looks to become the county’s first line of cyber defence.

Simon Henwood joins following a career in physical security working alongside the police, while Mark Thomson is a military veteran who will bolster the certification and projects team thanks to his extensive experience in quality management systems. Daniel McCarthy, previously at Wildanet, has joined as commercial manager.

CEO Mark Faithfull said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to accelerate recruitment and job creation at our office in Tremough Innovation Centre. The flexibility of our office space has been pivotal to our growth, as we’re able to adjust our space at short notice, as we continue to react to an increasing number of firms waking up to the real risks posed by cyber threats and turning to us for help.”

The growth in the Cool Waters team has enabled it to launch a new Security Operations Centre (SOC) service that provides 24/7 monitoring and response for clients. And looking further ahead, the company is planning to expand its apprenticeship scheme.

Matt Harrington, head of Cornwall Innovation Centres, added: “The rapid growth of Cool Waters Cyber is a testament to the company’s mission to create high-tech jobs in our county. Part of our ethos is to help small businesses like this to thrive, and Cool Waters Cyber is a shining example of how business support and flexibility provided at the Cornwall Innovation Centres can help companies to grow.”
