Robin Teverson, Baron Teverson of Tregony, a Liberal Democrat peer and former Member of the European Parliament has been appointed patron of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce.
“It’s a real privilege to be patron to Cornwall Chamber of Commerce,” said Lord Teverson. “I really admire its work. The chamber brings together businesses throughout the county and is so often a part of their success. It is great at helping keep everybody ahead in a fast-changing world. As a past member, I’ve seen it in action.
“I’ve always been involved in and enjoyed business. But I have also been a strong campaigner on environmental issues. What I’ve learnt is that the two are utterly compatible. Indeed, a successful economy and its business sector needs to work within its environmental limits to guarantee its future. I am proud that Cornwall has a chamber that understands all of these values.”
Chamber CEO, Kim Conchie, added: “It is fantastic that Robin joins us as patron, with all his environmental expertise, passion and business experience, in the same month that Cornwall Chamber launches Planet C to help get best sustainable practices embedded in our businesses.
“I know Lord Teverson will make sure we don’t let up on this activity. We are honoured that he has agreed to become our Patron for many years to come.”
