Wattstor, the Cornish renewable energy storage company, has hired its first two members of staff.
Michael Danes has joined as the company’s operations manager, while Tim Bunhill is Wattstor’s first employed design engineer.
For the past 18 months Danes has been working on business development for another local firm, while Bunhill has just completed three years’ work on a marine renewable energy research project based on the Penryn Campus of the University of Exeter.
Wattstor chairman, Peter Cunningham, said: “We are delighted that we have already created two local jobs, with more to come as the business expands.”
At its inaugural shareholder meeting, Wattstor also appointed a new non-executive director to its board. Dr Mark Edwards, a respected pharmaceutical industry research scientist, is also currently the R&D director of the Ethical Medicines Industry Group.
He was previously director of science and medical public affairs at Pfizer, in Kent.
