Renowned environmental campaigner and Surfers Against Sewage founder, Chris Hines, is to help a Truro-based construction consultancy in its quest to become one of the UK’s greenest quantity surveying businesses.

Hines, who also served as sustainability director at the Eden Project from 2001-2007, will be a consultant to Ward Williams Associates (WWA)’s ‘Green Team’ and will act as an overall mentor to the construction company on environmental and sustainability issues.

Explaining the thinking behind his decision to help WWA, Hines said: “The construction industry has an enormous responsibility to the environment and it is heartening to see it beginning to step up.

“The impact of this industry is huge so therefore the positive benefits of building sustainability can deliver massive benefits.”

WWA managing director Andrew Snapes said he is grateful for Hines’ support.

“It’s fantastic to have Chris on board as part of the WWA team,” he commented. “His uncompromising stance in getting people and Plc companies to listen and take positive action to improve the environment richly deserves the recognition he has received.”
