Bodmin-based Microtest has won a contract to supply clinical IT software to GP practices in the Channel Islands.

The company has successfully deployed the solution to 11 practices over the last three months. The Microtest software links all healthcare settings together and is integrated with Guernsey’s main hospital, Princess Elizabeth.

The new deployment means that an additional 300,000 patient records across the Channel Islands will be looked after by Microtest.  The ever growing company provides award winning software to GP surgeries and hospitals across the UK and also supplies IT products and services to businesses and homes across the South West region.

Microtest’s Open Evolution software allows practices to safely and securely share medical records across groups of surgeries, enabling a patient to attend any practice within a group and thus enhancing patient safety.

The next step will be the deployment of Microtest’s Guru solution, an award winning electronic patient record sharing system which enables patients to allow authorised clinicians to access their patient medical records from their GP practice at the point of care.

Chris Netherton, Managing Director at Microtest says: “We are delighted at the opportunity to expand our business into the Channel Islands.  Microtest is continuing to grow and expand. We now employ over a 100 staff, an increase of over 30% in the last year. Our continued growth is likely to lead to more new jobs in Cornwall and Devon in the months ahead.”
