Cornwall Innovation, the University of Plymouth’s brand behind the management of three innovation centres across Cornwall, has become the latest gold sponsor of community-based amateur sports club, Portreath Pilot Gig Rowing Club. The package of support has enabled the club to purchase a new gig cover.
Lucy Wilson, chair of Portreath Gig Rowing Club, said: “Our club relies on volunteers, sponsorship and grants to run and so the generosity of Cornwall Innovation has enabled us to purchase a cover for our original wooden gig, ‘Amy Shaw’.
“Our members train regularly between our two wooden boats and two plastic training gigs, which are all stored outside, making a good quality cover essential. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Hayley, Matt and the team at Cornwall Innovation for supporting us and allowing us to continue bringing accessible social and recreational fun to the community.”
