Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) is urging all Newquay businesses, residents and visitors to provide their personal input into the wide-ranging Newquay Futures consultation, being run by the Newquay Town Team, before its first deadline date of September 10.

Newquay Town Team received £133k in funding from Cornwall Council at the beginning of the year to produce a town centre framework and investment plan.

Since then, the team has been developing a strategy for the revitalisation of the town centre. This will set a long-term vision for the town centre for the benefit and enjoyment of future generations of residents and visitors, and identify the projects, developments, partners and funding required to make it happen.

Working with experienced international urban planner and change-management consultant, Prior + Partners, the Town Team has been consulting with locals, visitors and businesses across the course of summer. The final opportunities for businesses, residents and visitors to input are happening this week (Sep 8, 9 and 10) and Newquay BID is encouraging anyone with an interest to get immediately involved. If people can’t attend the consultation sessions, they can provide ideas and feedback via the consultation weblink.

Andy Cole of the Newquay Town Team said: “During its consultation and engagment exercises, across the summer months, the Town Team and its internationally renowned consultants Prior + Partners have gathered up well over 300 ideas from members of our community that may prove viable to improve or help re-vitalise the town.

“September will see us grouping these ideas and structuring our initial list of 10 – 12 around the various funding options that are currently open for application.”

The dates, times and locations for the remaining, final sessions are:

  • Newquay Orchard: Sept 8th 10.30 am to 7pm
  • Newquay Orchard: Sept 9th 9.30 am to 4pm
  • The Killacourt: Sept 10th (part of Newquay Summer Finale) 10am to 3.30pm
