Finisterre has become only the second company in Cornwall to become a certified B Corp.

Founder Tom Kay made the announcement yesterday (Feb 20) in front of 150 delegates at Unlocking Potential’s latest Future Focus event, at the Eden Project.

B Corp is a global non-profit movement promoting “a force for good” to solve social or environmental problems and businesses that want to achieve B Corporation certification must achieve the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

St Agnes-based outdoor clothing company, Finisterre, becomes just the second business in Cornwall to become B Corp certified, following in the footsteps of design agency, Leap.

Speaking at the event, Kay said: “Finisterre was founded in 2003 on three commitments: to product, environment and people. For these past 15 years, these commitments have been at the heart of every decision and our journey has been one of innovation to achieve sustainability, whilst continually striving to minimise the impact of both our business and product.

“Achieving B Corp status is a big moment for Finisterre: affirmation of what we have been working hard at since founding and giving us more to strive for in the future. I cannot think of a better place to have announced it than at the People, Planet, Profit event held today at the Eden Project.”

Future Focus events, run by Unlocking Potential, bring inspiring and influential speakers together and put them in front of Cornish Businesses to help share global ideas and future-proof business.

The next Future Focus Event takes place in early May. To find out more about the next event, sign up to receive updates.
