A Cornwall College Governor who is a leading authority on adult education has received a top honour in recognition of his achievements.

Professor Alan Tuckett has been awarded the distinction of UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) Honorary Fellow.

The award recognises Professor Tuckett’s significant contribution to the development of lifelong learning on a global scale and his dedication to working in this area.

Professor Tuckett was appointed as a governor six years ago and Chairs the Excellence and Experience Committee; he has also been Professor of Education at the University of Wolverhampton since January 2015.

He said: “I am deeply honoured by this award. The UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning leads the world in my area of work, so I am naturally flattered to be recognised in this way.”

Acting CEO and prinicipal of The Cornwall College Group, Raoul Humphreys, said: “This is a tremendous honour for Professor Tuckett, but one which is thoroughly deserved.”
