The Cornwall Chamber of Commerce is urging businesses to take a couple of minutes out of their day to complete the latest Quarterly Economic Survey (QES).
The QES is Britain’s largest and longest-running business survey and is a powerful tool for representing the voice of business to Government. The results are analysed and used by Cornwall Chamber at a local level, and nationally through the British Chambers of Commerce.
At the national level, the survey is a leading indicator – often picking up big changes in the economy long before other surveys or official statistics.
The Cornwall QES results are published on the Cornwall Chamber website and can provide members with up-to-date, valuable information about Cornwall’s economy.
Kim Conchie, chief executive of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, said: “This survey takes around two minutes to complete and it’s one of the most powerful tools a UK-based business has.
“The Bank of England uses the QES when setting interest rates; HM Treasury and the independent Office for Budget Responsibility use the QES to put together their forecasts; Cornwall and Isles of Scilly LEP use it to determine local priorities; and The European Commission uses the QES to assess the health of the UK economy when it makes policy recommendations for both Westminster and Brussels. These survey results really do count.”
