National firm of chartered accountants, Haines Watts, has expanded into Cornwall following the acquisition of Launceston-based Nevill Hovey & Co.

The newly-merged business, which will trade as Haines Watts Cornwall, has retained all eight members of the former Nevill Hovey team, while sole-director, Tim Smith, is retiring.

He said: “This is a win: win situation for everybody and our clients, who are the most important people, will benefit from this change in ownership.

“The service they have enjoyed with Nevill Hovey will be further enhanced with the backing of Haines Watts’ national strength and local knowledge with a hands-on approach.

“Although I’m really looking forward to my retirement, I want to take this opportunity to thank my long-term clients for their business and support.”

Vince Edwards, managing partner of Haines Watts South West, added: “We are delighted to be opening our first Cornwall office, particularly in Launceston as I grew up there.

“We already support many farmers in Cornwall, the acquisition will enable us to offer new Cornish clients access to a broader range of services with the backing of national expertise and support, whilst retaining a local presence.”
