Taste of the West, the West Country food and drink cooperative, has launched its new shop on Ocado, the online supermarket.

It is said to be the first regional shop of its kind, the result of the collaboration of food and drink producers across the West Country.

John Sheaves, CEO of Taste of the West, said: “I am delighted with this development. It has been a long time in the planning and effectively takes Taste of the West onto a new innovative marketing platform.

“The new OCADO account is the first account for our new commercial service, run from our commercial arm, Taste of the West International, and feeds directly into a buoyant online market.”

Over 50 product lines are now available online, rising to 150 product lines in the coming weeks – from quality West Country meat, charcuterie, traditional pasties and craft ales to ice-cream, free range duck and quail eggs and clotted cream.

Cornish producers joining the initiative include Crantock Bakery, Rodda’s, St Ewe Free Range Eggs, and Trewithen Dairy.
