St Ives BID is driving forward a scheme created by local businesses to promote independent shops and trade in St Ives.
The idea for the ‘I Love Shopping in St Ives’ Facebook page came from Sarah Hocking, owner of Fabulous, a children’s retail store in the town.
The page acts as a hub for a wide section of independent shops and businesses in the seaside town to highlight and promote offers and news to locals as well as tourists.
The public group launched just over a month ago and has already attracted nearly 1,000 members.
Hocking said: “I thought it would be a great idea to set up the page to promote all the offers, opening times and exciting news that is going on in all of the great independent shops that are in this hugely creative Cornish town.
“When other towns have set up similar pages, it has taken a while to generate interest, but the response so far has been incredible. It’s a real positive thing for the town and the group has a chance to really make a difference.”
Carl Lamb, St Ives BID manager, added: “The page is a great resource, and the BID really wanted to get behind it to promote it further.”
