Sarah Trethowan, director of EU regulatory affairs consultancy TRAC Services, has gained chartered director status with the Institute of Directors.

“It’s fantastic!” she enthused. “I received the news just before Christmas and it was the perfect early Christmas present.

“For the last two years I have been working towards achieving chartered director status with the Institute of Directors. This has involved two residential courses, two exams, preparing a portfolio of evidence and a panel interview.

“I was over the moon to receive confirmation I had met the requirements and achieved my aim.”

Trethowan joins the select few in the professional membership body as a female chartered director.  There are currently 1,234 elected chartered directors in the country of which a growing number (20% in 2015) are female.

“I’m very proud to have gained such status and I would encourage directors to consider the programme as the benefits it brings are significant,” she added.

“I’d particularly like to see more female directors undertaking the professional journey as one way of helping to address gender inequality on boards, something I know the IoD, and in particular Lady Barbara Judge CBE, national Chair of the IoD, are committed too.”
