The Chancellor revealed there will be 26 new or extended EZs across the country, as part of his Spending Review.

LEP chief executive, Sandra Rothwell, declared herself “delighted” at the announcement. She said: “This will see the extension of Aerohub itself and the inclusion of Goonhilly Earth Station in recognition of the importance of space and aerospace to our future economy ambitions.

“Newquay Aerohub has already proved a huge success with 16 businesses now located at Cornwall Airport Newquay, employing 450 people with an average wage of £33,400.

“The combination of business rate relief, enhanced capital allowances and streamlined planning regimes that Enterprise Zones can provide is a proven way to fast track business growth and the creation of quality, well-paid jobs.

“We are also continuing to progress two Food Enterprise Zones which were announced in the summer.”
