Crantock Bakery has strengthened its links with TV chef, James Strawbridge, by appointing him as a consultant.

His role will be to expand the company’s current pasty and pie range and introduce new lines into new market areas.

Strawbridge’s brief is to work on new flavours, embrace emerging food trends and develop product ideas.

Leigh Loomes, Crantock’s national sales and new product development manager, said: “Following the successful launch and growth of products into the travel sector last year, which accounts for sales in excess of £1.5 million, I’m really looking forward to working with James on a number of products and lines which will more than double that growth.”

Strawbridge has already established his own range of baked products through his Posh Pasty Co, a range produced by Crantock at its base in Indian Queens. He is excited by the challenge of the consultancy post.

“I absolutely adore the process of coming up with a new recipe,” he said. “Working as a consultant for Crantock is an amazing creative opportunity. I’ll have the chance to work on ideas for larger customers, to look at a wider range of baked products as well as airline food, wraps and a few other ideas which are top secret at the moment.”
