Louis Tomlinson of boy band One Direction fame has launched a crowdfunding campaign with Newquay-based platform Crowdfunder, to support his beloved Doncaster Rovers FC.
Following his takeover of the League One club along with previous Doncaster chairman, John Ryan, Tomlinson is looking to raise £2 million to support his ambitions for the club.
The campaign is thought to be one of the biggest UK crowdfunding campaigns ever. The Tomlinson Ryan Trust has already agreed to put in a six-figure sum as part of the campaign to show its commitment and to encourage fans to come on the journey with them.
Rob Love, chairman of Crowdfunder.co.uk, said: “It’s been really great to work with John and Louis on this project. They clearly have an enormous passion to create a bright future for Doncaster Rovers. It’s a partnership we are delighted to be part of.”
MD Phil Geraghty added: “This is a really exciting project. Crowdfunder is the UK’s No 1 rewards-based crowdfunding platform and we have been able to use our expertise and experience to help the Tomlinson Ryan Trust launch their campaign.”
