A Falmouth law firm has just re-achieved a rare double-accolade as two of its partners feature on a specialist panel of excellence regulated by the Law Society—making it the highest-rated clinical negligence firm in Cornwall.

Following years of professional practice and hard work, Julie Binny of Preston Goldburn has been reappointed to the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Accreditation Scheme—the quality mark for legal experts who step in to protect patients who have suffered at the hands of sub-standard health practitioners.

This means Preston Goldburn has the only two lawyers in Cornwall who are accredited by the scheme; Julie Binny and partner solicitor Tim Goldburn.

Clinical negligence lawyers are called in where a healthcare worker, such as a doctor, surgeon, nurse, therapist or dentist, is believed to have provided care below an acceptable standard.

“When a medical accident happens to someone,” explained Julie Binny, “they are in a particularly vulnerable state and need someone capable of handling their case without making mistakes that cause additional stress and discomfort.

“That is why the Law Society manages the Clinical Negligence Accreditation Scheme. We feel it’s important that people in Cornwall shouldn’t have to travel all the way to Plymouth, when they are in a state of trauma, to get the legal help they need.”
