North Cornwall MP Dan Rogerson is urging businesses and community groups to make the most of millions of pounds of worth of Government funding designed to help coastal communities.

The Coalition Government’s Coastal Communities Fund has already awarded over £250k to projects in north Cornwall, and has now opened for a new round of bids for a pot of over £27.8M to help communities boost their economic development.

And Rogerson is calling on businesses, community groups, charities, local councils and other organisations in his constituency to bid for a share of the Coastal Communities Fund, which last year awarded over £150k to the National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow and £100k to the Wadebridge Renewable Energy Network.

He said: “The Coastal Communities Fund is an important part of the Liberal Democrat efforts in the Coalition Government to build a stronger economy in a fairer society.

“This year’s funding is up by over £4.1M to £27.8M, so I am urging community organisations and local businesses to bid for a share of the cash for projects to help create and maintain jobs, boost tourism and the local economy, or promote regeneration in our communities.”
