The Cornwall Apprenticeship Agency (CAA) has been awarded £630K of funding from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES).

The announcement was made this afternoon during a visit from local MP Sarah Newton to SKB Sails in Penryn.

The funding will create a specialist team of “skills brokers” across ten sectors in Cornwall, who will engage with mainly small businesses to advise on skills solutions and promote the availability of the CAA model of apprenticeship.

It is hoped the initiative will help develop 650 new apprentice placements across Cornwall over the next two years.

The news follows last week’s announcement that CAA has been awarded full Apprenticeship Training Agency status.
