Heartlands, the new free visitor attraction, community space and World Heritage Site in Pool, is looking to recruit volunteers to assist with the running of its ambitious year-round activity.

Roles will involve supporting the events programme, gardening, visitor services and arts and heritage tours.

It will be holding a Volunteer Fair next week (Feb 9, 3pm-7pm) at its new Visitor Centre, where interested individuals will get the chance to find out more and meet the staff.

Heartlands is a £35 million Cornwall Council led development, which is being funded through a £22.3 million grant from the Big Lottery Fund and investment from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), Cornwall Council and the European Union.

Opening in spring 2012, the site includes World Heritage Site exhibitions, café and bar, art and craft studios, botanical gardens and the biggest adventure playground in Cornwall.

Chief executive Vicky Martin commented: “Our volunteers will be an integral part of the Heartlands team and we are delighted to able to offer these diverse opportunities.”
