Get divorced online

It may be Valentine’s Day, but for those not so lucky in love, a Cornish solicitor has today launched an online divorce service.

Launched through the Coodes Direct website, Coodes is the first law firm in the south west to offer divorce online.

The service has been created in response to market demand as more and more people seek to get divorced without paying large fees or meeting solicitors.

Users will enter their details online and pay a fixed £100 fee plus VAT. They will then be sent a Guide to Online Divorce and a questionnaire to fill in about their marriage and their marriage breakdown.

After that the Coodes team will prepare the necessary paperwork for the client to download, sign and then post to the courts. All the necessary forms and letters are supplied and caseworkers provide email and telephone support throughout.

Elise Alma, head of the family department at Coodes, said: “This is a real innovation and a reflection of Coodes ability to meet our clients’ demands in a changing world.”

Coodes marketing manager Suzanne Skerry added: “There are many reasons why people might want to use our online divorce service. With the recession a lot of people need a lower cost option to avoid staying in a marriage that isn’t working.

“Other people don’t want to have to meet a solicitor – we know it can actually seem quite scary! What we offer is the chance to pay a fixed fee and do everything from the comfort of your own home.

“Because of our reputation and expertise you know you’ll be in good hands.”
