People living in the south west are among the happiest in the UK and the least likely to hit the bottle when times get tough, according to a new study.
The national survey, commissioned by Uncovered Magazine, is aimed at mapping the nation’s mental health.
The report says that in the south west, only 24% of residents turn to booze to lift the blues, compared with 57% in Northern Ireland and the North East.
The survey found 79% of people are happy living in the south west, compared to just 59% living in Wales.
But economic downturn has impacted on the south west region, with 65% feeling anxious about their finances.
The happiest region to live? East Midlands.
