Memories of the historic Pandora Inn are being shared on its very own Facebook page in the wake of last week’s devastating fire.

The iconic pub, at Restronguet, near Falmouth, was destroyed by a blaze which ripped through its thatched roof on Thursday morning.

St Austell Brewery started the tribute page in response to demand from well wishers wanting to share stories and photographs of the 13th Century pub.

Marketing director Jeremy Mitchell said: “The Pandora is such an iconic Cornish pub and Thursday’s fire has really hit home just how much it has touched people’s lives.

“Lots of people have been contacting us, offering their condolences and sharing their memories of the Pandora. A Facebook page seemed the perfect way of sharing those and helping to keep spirits up while we all come to terms with what has happened.”

The brewery has said it is committed to rebuilding the pub, although being listed, “it will take some time”.

In the meantime the pontoon is licensed, and together with tenant John Milan, St Austell Brewery is investigating the possibility of having a barge or marquee to serve the summer trade.
