A St Ives food business that was originally launched to supply businesses in the town with a range of goods at the height of the summer is now gearing up for what it says will be its busiest Christmas ever.

Staff at the St Ives Food Company are now hard at work preparing for the festive rush which will see them cook almost 1,000 hams and hand make many thousands of sausages on the premises before delivering them, with scores of other products to hundreds of businesses across the county.

According to owner Tom McWilliams, the business has particularly flourished in the last three years as Cornwall has become a year round destination, with this Christmas set to be their busiest yet.

He said: “The rising popularity of Cornwall as a year round destination has helped businesses like ours grow and keep people in year round employment unlike many other UK coastal destinations that are still very seasonal.

“This year will be our busiest Christmas ever, with hotels, restaurants, delis, village stores, holiday parks and supermarkets across Cornwall, right through to tourist destinations such as the Eden Project taking our produce.”
