Budding entrepreneurs and start-up businesses across Cornwall took part in workshops from the comfort of their own homes and offices recently via the Ignite – Cornwall Business Plan, winter training camp live webcasts.

The webcasts, which can now be downloaded by logging in at growcornwall.co.uk, gave those who took part valuable guidance on how to develop a well researched and compelling business plan, aiming to give participants the best possible chance of winning the Ignite Business Plan competition, which has a prize fund of over £100k, kick-starting the winner towards commercial success.

Julia Foster, director of Avistron Chemistry Services, commented: “The webcasts worked really well, I could ask questions and the speakers made such an effort to aid the clarity for those watching on the web. I was unable to attend the sessions in Truro due to the snow, so not only did I not miss out on anything there was also the extra benefit of not having to find child care cover!”

Ignite was launched by Oxford Innovation at Caerhay’s Estate last autumn and is open to all entrepreneurs and start-up business based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly until the March 31.

Leo Dunne of Oxford Innovation said: “We were delighted so many start-up businesses across Cornwall took part in the workshops. The live webcasts meant problems with access, childcare and the weather didn’t stop anyone from benefitting. Oxford Innovation’s Grow Cornwall team is here to support up-and-coming businesses and this is one of the ways we overcome some of the issues entrepreneurs can face.”
