Ginsters has taken delivery of a new ‘greener’ fleet of delivery vans.

The Callington-based company has taken 25 Euro 5 Sprinters from Mercedes-Benz. The 313CDI is 15% more fuel-efficient than the popular 311CDI it replaces, which equates to an extra 4.5 miles per gallon. CO2 emissions are cut by 13%, while power and torque are up by approximately 10%.

As well as their Euro 5 engines, Ginsters’ latest Sprinters have been specified with tyre pressure meters and the multi-function steering wheels that allow the data produced by the sensors to be displayed on the dash.

Dave Vaughan, Ginsters’ fleet operations manager, explained: “For reasons of safety as well as fuel economy, we ensure that our tyres are always properly inflated and that tread depths never fall below the 3mm minimum.”

Ginsters has also been running a Sprinter with the innovative ECO-Start system, which cuts the engine whenever the vehicle is stationary for more than two seconds, then automatically starts it again when the driver depresses the clutch pedal.
