For anyone thinking about starting up their own business, then this month’s Hub event is the one to be at.

On Thursday, October 29 at the Bedruthan Steps Hotel, near Newquay, guests can hear practical finance and legal tips, listen to someone who has taken the plunge, and look at what help and support is out there if you’ve got that new business idea and you’re itching to make it a reality.

In a series of short talks, you’ll hear from James Hodgson of Hodgsons Chartered Accountants; Rebecca Anforth and Henry Maples from Foot Anstey Solicitors; and Chris Philips from Unlocking Cornish Potential.

Finally, 2008 Best Business Start Up Hub Award winner, Claire Eason-Bassett from Event Cornwall, will give a first hand account of what’s really like to go from employee to employer.

The Hub is a dynamic networking group, created and run by people working in the Duchy. From workshops and speed networking events, to summer socials and the highly anticipated annual awards ceremony, the Hub events, which are held on the last Thursday of every month, offer a number of opportunities to network with like-minded people.

Laura McKay, Hub committee member, said: “This month’s Hub event will pack lots of useful information into a series of short talks all about starting your own business.

“The Hub has always been about helping facilitate opportunities, forward thinking and encouraging entrepreneurial spirit, and we’re delighted that business people from some of the county’s leading firms want to offer practical business start-up advice and tips.”

She added: “Hub events aim to support the development and requirements of business people from all sectors and all career levels in the county.”

The Hub is a not for profit organisation sponsored by a number of public and private sector businesses. The monthly events are free to attend and are planned and managed by a committee of volunteers, who give up their time to produce a varied plan of events.

The evening starts at the usual time of 6.30pm for 7pm. For more information about the Hub, or to sign up, visit the web site.
