Business Cornwall: How is the business best described?

Whyfield is a modern, dynamic, cloud-based accountancy firm, with a team of highly accredited and highly regarded accounting experts, serving businesses and individuals, across a range of sectors, throughout Cornwall, Devon, and across the UK.

Established in 2014, we have embraced cloud accounting with open arms and have successfully transformed the way hundreds of businesses approach their accounting. These businesses can now see how they are performing in an instant.

Plus, as experienced business advisors, we help turn ideas into thriving start-ups and work with well-established local businesses to deliver the plans of directors and shareholders.

Why was the business founded?

On recognising that the rise of digital accountancy presented a great opportunity, Laura Whyte was inspired to start Whyfield and form a more modern firm.

We started Whyfield because we realised that the accountancy industry needed to reinvent itself. It needed a completely fresh approach and we knew that could be achieved if we put our clients ‘first and foremost’ with digital tools to support their business.

We wanted to change the opinion of the accounting industry from both the clients perspective and the people working in the profession and believe we have achieved this with our more hands on, relationship based style.

How does the business compare to competitors in the industry?

The accountancy industry is overflowing with traditional firms, many of which were set up in the last century (or even the one before in some cases!) and retain similar hierarchical structures. Heritage is good, but it doesn’t always offer you value in today’s modern accountancy world. In today’s business environment, you should be able to access financial performance immediately, whenever and wherever you want from your laptop or smartphone.

How can Whyfield help businesses and readers?

We will always do our best to help you and your business at a time and in a manner that suits you. Our team are accessible by emails, calls, text, face to face and video conferencing. We want to be agile and fit in with how our clients want to work.

How does the business define success?

Success is individual and everyone has a different opinion on what it looks like, for us, we measure success not only on our business but on that of the clients we support and the journeys they’ve been on.

We build strong relationships with our clients, putting their needs first and despite the fact that we’re a numbers-based business, our clients are more than just a number. We take time to get to know our clients, and follow their stories, so when they succeed we succeed and celebrate with them.
