Business Cornwall: How is the business best described?

We provide Payroll and Auto-Enrolment pensions services to many businesses across Cornwall and beyond, including some of the most well-known organisations in the Cornish tourism and hospitality sector.

We aim to take away the hassle of Payroll, so that the employer can focus on the day to day running of their business.

Being based in Cornwall, we understand the seasonal nature of many Cornish businesses, regarding employee numbers fluctuating and often high numbers of starters and leavers to process quickly, so we tailor our services and fees to meet those needs.

Business Cornwall: Why was the business founded?

With the introduction of Auto Enrolment pensions and the new requirements that need to be met, we felt this was the perfect time to do this. The Business grew quickly and is continuing to do so. We now have 5 employees, processing payroll for over 250 clients and we are still taking on new clients regularly, which is great.

Business Cornwall: How does the business compare to competitors in the industry?

We provide the same payroll service as chartered accountants, but usually at a much-reduced price. Many business owners often assume that payroll needs to be ‘under one roof’ with the other services provided by their accountant, but this is certainly not the case. Payroll is a standalone, specialist service and businesses that employ our services regularly save up to 50% on their previous payroll fees. The transfer process is very easy, free and can be done at any point in the year.

We also process payroll for many accountants who choose not to provide payroll services themselves.

Business Cornwall: What are the business’s plans both short-term and long-term?

After a particularly busy 18 months processing furlough calculations and claims for our clients, we are now looking ahead to 2022 and introducing new ways to make life easier for employers. This includes a new online Employer portal and a new faster payment service, enabling us to make instant payments to employees, thus providing a full ‘end to end’ service. The feedback so far has been great!

Long term we want to continue to grow as a company, but most importantly to continue meeting the needs of our clients and ensuring we maintain the personal touch.
