The Big Debate – Sustainable energy

Business Cornwall magazine is hosting a roundtable debate this afternoon (June 24), in collaboration with Bishop Fleming and Cornwall Marine Network, to discuss the issues and opportunities surrounding the renewableBishop Fleming energy sector in Cornwall.

Wave power, wind power, solar power, geothermal – Cornwall is looking to build a reputation for being a centre for renewable energy.

But just what impact will the Government’s Feed-in-Tariff review have on the fledgling industry? How will Cornish businesses be affected by the Carbon Reduction Scheme? And just how realistic an aim is it that Cornwall can be lead the UK in renewables?

These and other questions we’ll be putting to an expert panel which will include Ewan McClymont (Bishop Fleming), Andrew George (MP), Andrew Honey (Microgeneration), Andy McKenzie (Low Carbon Futures), Tim German (Cornwall Council), Katie Ashworth (Murrell Ashworth), Amanda Pound (A&P) and Johnny Gowdy (RegenSW).

The event will be blogged live from this website from 2pm onwards, with a full review appearing in the August issue of Business Cornwall magazine.

If you have a question you would like us to put to the panel, you can email the editor.
